about me ...
I am a freelance travel writer and photographer who contributes to national publications including The Daily Mail, Metro, Living France, French Magazine, France Magazine and Spain Magazine. I also contribute to customer magazines for luxury brands such as Sunseeker and Raymond Blanc.
I am co-author of Frommer's Provence & the French Riviera with your Family and have revised guidebooks for Michelin (Provence, Brittany), Dorling Kindersley (Provence, Wales), The AA (Brittany) and Thomas Cook (Mallorca, Ibiza, Costa Blanca).
Born and organically bred in South Wales, I developed a lifelong interest in France and French culture during my A Levels, after which I took a year out to work as an au pair in Annecy and the Camargue. I went on to study French and Spanish at Leeds University, which included a year in Lyon teaching English and a term learning Spanish at Granada University.
After some postgraduate study at Cardiff University's renowned School of Journalism, I embarked upon a ten-year career in Public Relations. During this time, I continued to pursue my love of writing and travel.
Over the years my adventures have seen me working as a volunteer park ranger on Ellis Island and Liberty Island in NYC, managing a chalet company in the French Alps, house-sitting for a film director in Paris, working as PA to various celebs during Cannes Film Festival and travelling overland to Crete where I worked at a yoga retreat.
My main areas of interest and knowldege are: France, Spain, Greece and Greek Islands, rail travel, independent/solo travel, winter sports, restaurant and hotel reviews, retreats and spas, personal development and 'luxury on a budget'.
"As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is a long one, full of adventure, full of discovery ... do not hurry the journey at all. Better if it lasts for years, so you are old by the time you reach the island, wealthy with all you have gained on the way."
