about me ...

I am a freelance writer who has been writing professionally for about ten years. Born and organically bred in South Wales, I developed a lifelong interest in France and French culture during my A Levels, after which I took a year out to work as an au pair in Annecy and the Camargue. I went on to study French and Spanish at Leeds University, which included a year in Lyon teaching English and a term learning Spanish at Granada University.

After some postgraduate study at Cardiff University's renowned School of Journalism, I embarked upon a career in Public Relations. This has involved news, feature writing and copywriting for high-profile clients in both the public and private sectors and I have had many articles published in both the national and regional media on their behalf.

I have continued to pursue my love of writing and travel, which until now has mainly been restricted to southern Europe. Over the years my adventures have seen me working as a volunteer park ranger on Ellis Island and Liberty Island in NYC, managing a chalet company in the French Alps, house-sitting for a film director in Paris, working as PA to various celebs during Cannes Film Festival and travelling overland to Crete where I worked at a yoga retreat.

I have written for Daily Mail Weekend, Spain Magazine and Living France. In 2007 I co-wrote a new guidebook for Frommer's called Provence & the French Riviera with your Family and revised the existing Michelin Green Guide Provence. I enjoy taking photos during my travels and can provide digital photography with any articles.

My main areas of interest and knowldege are: France, Spain, Greece and Greek Islands, travel overland, independent travel, women's travel, alternative therapies and retreats, personal development, ancient mysteries and civilisations and 'luxury on a budget'.

"As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is a long one, full of adventure, full of discovery ... do not hurry the journey at all. Better if it lasts for years, so you are old by the time you reach the island, wealthy with all you have gained on the way."
